Jen’s French Toast Casserole

  • 1 loaf of bread, cut into 1 inch cubes (we prefer Brioche, but Challah also works well, but you can use any)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 4 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 Tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

Pack bread into greased 13×9 casserole dish. Mix eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt. Pour over bread. Cover tightly with plastic wrap. Here, I recommend if you have a second pan of similar size that will sit down in the first, you put it on top with some weight, it really helps soak up the liquid. Otherwise, any heavy object can be used to press it down into the liquid. Refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator, dot with butter. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over top. Put into your oven while it is preheating to 350. Bake 45min-1hr or until a knife inserted near center comes out clean. Let stand 5 minutes. Serve with syrup.

This makes enough to serve 12
